At WWDC 2025, Apple announced its next major update for Mac – macOS Tahoe 26. This update brings a new design, useful features, better AI, and tools to improve productivity on Mac devices.
Apple also introduced a new design style called Liquid Glass which gives the system a cleaner and more modern look.
Supported Devices
macOS Tahoe 26 will come as a free software update later this year. It supports:
- MacBook Air (2020 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (2019 or newer)
- iMac (2020 or newer)
- Mac Mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro (newer models)
The developer beta version is available now for compatible devices.
New Design – Liquid Glass UI
Apple’s new design called Liquid Glass makes your screen look like real glass.
- Sidebars and toolbars are now transparent.
- The menu bar is fully clear and can be customized.
- Users can change folder colors and add emojis or symbols for personalization.
- It works in both Light and Dark Mode.
New Features: Phone App & Live Activities
- A Phone app is now in macOS. You can make and receive calls from your Mac using your nearby iPhone.
- You can check voicemails, favorites, and recent calls.
- New tools like Call Screening and Hold Assist are added.
Also, Live Activities from your iPhone will show on your Mac. You can click them and mirror your iPhone directly on the Mac screen.
Spotlight Search Gets a Big Upgrade
- Spotlight can now search across all apps, including iPhone apps with mirroring.
- It shows results for files, folders, events, messages, and more – all in one place.
- Users can filter results and even access files stored on cloud drives.
- You can now use it to send emails, play music, or make notes – all without opening separate apps.
- A new Quick Key feature lets you search faster using short key commands.
Apple Intelligence with AI Tools
macOS now includes AI features:
- Live Translation in messages, calls, and FaceTime
- Smarter Shortcuts that run tasks automatically
- ChatGPT integration to get help directly from your Mac
- AI can scan emails, notes, and websites to create smart reminders and auto-group tasks
New Apple Game App
Apple is launching a Game App Hub for Mac:

- New games can be searched and started quickly
- Game Overlay lets you change settings or chat without closing the game
