Jasprit Bumrah has created a special moment in Indian cricket history. For the first time in his career, he took five wickets in an innings at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With this performance, he has also broken a big record held by the legendary Kapil Dev.
Lord’s is known as the “Home of Cricket”, and performing well here is a dream for any cricketer. Bumrah is now the 15th Indian bowler to take five or more wickets at this historic ground. But more importantly, he now has the most five-wicket hauls in overseas Test matches by any Indian bowler.
Joining the List of Legends
By taking five wickets at Lord’s, Bumrah has joined a list of famous Indian bowlers who have done the same before him. These include big names like Kapil Dev, Bishan Singh Bedi, Ishant Sharma, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Other Indian bowlers who have taken five wickets at Lord’s in the past are Mohammed Nissar, Amar Singh, Lala Amarnath, Vinoo Mankad, Ramakant Desai, B.S. Chandrasekhar, Chetan Sharma, Venkatesh Prasad, R.P. Singh, Praveen Kumar, and Ravindra Jadeja.
Now, Bumrah’s name is proudly added to this legendary list.
Strong Start on Day Two
The third Test match between India and England began with England looking strong. On Day 1, India took four wickets. Bumrah got just one — the important wicket of Harry Brook.
But on Day 2, Bumrah came back in amazing form. In the very first session, he took three quick wickets. He dismissed England’s captain Ben Stokes for 44, top scorer Joe Root for 104, and Chris Woakes for zero.
Later, he clean bowled Jofra Archer to complete his five-wicket haul. His performance helped India bowl England out for 387 runs in their first innings.
England had some good batting from Joe Root, who scored a century. Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse also made half-centuries. But Bumrah’s sharp bowling made sure that England didn’t score more.

From India’s side, along with Bumrah’s five wickets, Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy took two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja also picked up one.
Bumrah’s Overseas Magic Continues
This is not the first time Bumrah has done well outside India. In the first Test of this series at Leeds, he also took five wickets in the first innings. He is known for performing well in foreign conditions, where many bowlers struggle.
With his performance in this match, Bumrah has now taken five or more wickets in an overseas Test innings 13 times. Kapil Dev, the previous record holder, did it 12 times.
This means Bumrah is now India’s top overseas bowler in terms of five-wicket hauls. Anil Kumble is third with 10, and Ishant Sharma is fourth.
A Big Boost for Team India
Bumrah’s performance has lifted Team India’s hopes in the ongoing five-match Test series. His ability to take wickets at important times gives India a big advantage. When Bumrah is in form, the entire bowling attack becomes more dangerous.
His calm attitude, sharp thinking, and deadly accuracy make him one of the best bowlers in the world right now.
Fans, cricket experts, and former players are all praising Bumrah’s hard work and consistency. Social media is filled with messages calling him a match-winner and a true champion.
