The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has taken a big step regarding its players. This year, it will launch its own T20 league, confirmed by GCA Secretary Anil Patel.
In India, many states have already started their own domestic T20 leagues. Now, Gujarat will join that list. GCA will begin its franchise-based T20 league in the 2025-26 season. Many players who perform well in Indian domestic tournaments also leave a mark in the IPL. Soon, we will see Gujarat’s players showcasing their skills in their own franchise league too.
Decision on Teams Soon
Speaking to the media, Anil Patel confirmed the plan and said the association will hold meetings soon to decide the details about teams and other aspects of the tournament.
It has often been seen that players who shine in state-based leagues are later picked up by IPL teams. Some also get opportunities to show their batting or bowling skills on bigger stages. Gujarat has produced many players who have performed brilliantly in domestic cricket and secured places in the Indian team.

Famous Players from Gujarat
India’s experienced fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has played first-class cricket for Gujarat. Ravindra Jadeja, former cricketers Munaf Patel and Ajay Jadeja are also from Gujarat. Now, fans can expect to see many new faces from Gujarat’s domestic circuit.
Other states like Tamil Nadu already have the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Delhi recently launched the Delhi Premier League, while Uttar Pradesh hosts the Uttar Pradesh Premier League where many talented players have impressed. The list is growing, and Gujarat is the latest to join it.
This move is expected to bring new opportunities to local players and create a new cricketing wave in the state.
